At once, we began talking about how Poetry yields so well to being read out aloud to students who have come galloping up or just breathless after a lunch recess ; of how its inherent rhythm and music can have a calming influence; of how this enchanting , magical piece of literature could expose children to imagery by painting a picture with words; of how it urges them to listen with all their senses and infuses the power to visualize; of how young wordsmiths- native speakers of the language or otherwise could add to their rich repertoire of words and expressions and unusual turns of phrase and how by being short (usually) and pithy one could set aside as little as 10 minutes for it…… And if a Spine Poem writing(?) could prod a dormant poet into frenzied activity?
